On Monday there was an Alchemy session with Duncan. He told us to focus on some technical aspect which appealed to us about ceramics, and to investigate it thoroughly. I had had a long hard think about what I wanted to investigate beforehand, and was interested in pursuing a light blue, rather than traditionally jade-like, celadon with translucent properties.
Then Mahnaz raised discussion regarding the curation (or lack of it) of the Ken Stradling collection.
On Tuesday there were PDPs with tutors. Then there was a talk for those still interested in doing their work experience in January. I was reassured that I was on track.
On Thursday we went to York by coach. We stopped off at Hadley Gardens to speak with ceramists and makers whose studios were there. Then we went to the York sculpture park and walked around in the rain.
On Friday we went to CoCA and discussed the related brief. I saw the exhibition Flesh and it was very inspiring.
